Why Artists are Fed Up with AI Art
We (Internet Users) love our pictures, and feed of exciting photos
and we scroll and scroll over and over all day to get our daily dose of dopamine
this is great, and encouraged, because ads are mixed here and there, and we have been playing this little game for a while now (think 20 years)
The result is that we have stored in website, galleries, cloud, social media, etc ... tons of pictures, and by tons I mean ... billions of MB of everything under the sun.
These images (there are also texts, audio and videos but let's just talk about images) are available for the public, they have been online to be viewed, to be shared, to be liked, and followed ... except, now AI is storing them into dataset, and use them to generate new images (mixing several of them into a new one) and this is starting to get noticed...
There is a difference in using a photo taken on a beach in Hawaii, that took 4 seconds to be made, and an artwork that took several days to be crafted, but from the AI point of view, these are binary visual images, and they are the same.
Privacy has always been a bit of a joke on the internet, users have been told that facebook is protecting their privacy, or Apple, or HP or myspace, or Instagram, but hey ... tough luck, all the online information is out there.
What you gonna do about it?
Produce a new video talking about it, and spending time recording it, making sure there is no typo, or errors, and wait for feedback, while dozens of other influencers are doing the same, and while everyone is talking back and forth about this new problem, AI is taking the data, and using it to generate more content ...
It is laughable and borderline.
