Countries Coveting Africa

Image
Africa is a continent with a wealth of natural resources, a growing population, and a young workforce. As a result, Africa is increasingly being courted by countries from all over the world. China is Africa's largest trading partner, and it has invested heavily in the continent in recent years. China is interested in Africa's natural resources, such as oil, gas, and minerals. China is also interested in Africa's market potential, as the continent's population is growing rapidly. Russia is also interested in Africa's natural resources, and it has been increasing its military and political presence on the continent in recent years. Russia is seen as a potential counterweight to Western influence in Africa. The United States has a long history of involvement in Africa, and it is still a major investor on the continent. The United States is interested in Africa's natural resources, but it is also interested in Africa's democratic development. France has a long h

The current status quo is characterized by a lack of desire for anything. There is a growing trend of people refraining from traveling and shopping in order to mitigate climate change. This leads to a sense of despair, although some individuals are beginning to contemplate ways to slow down the inevitable decline. Numerous warning signs are evident today, indicating that the entire ecosystem is suffering due to past mistakes. Assuming that there are still individuals in society who are ignoring the signs, it is important to recognize that embracing a new way of life entails ceasing excessive consumption, reducing travel, abandoning selfishness, and actively fostering natural communities. However, these actions contradict the current interests of corporations and establishments. While purchasing electric cars may be presented as a solution, it is important to acknowledge that this is not a genuine fix. The misconception that one can continue to believe in constant growth indefinitely, w

Europe does have significant challenges ahead

Image
This summer 2023 continues to break weather records due to persistent lack of rainfall. The intensifying drought is causing concerns for food companies as they actively seek solutions to prevent crop reduction and price increases. Farmers and food entrepreneurs are distressed as they observe field vegetables drying up, while one weather record after another continues to be broken (refer to charts)."Spring spinach yield has decreased by 20 percent".  "We've already seen more than a 10 percent loss in peas, even as the harvest continues. The losses for summer cauliflower and onions exceed 15 percent." Sowing parsnip and carrot has become challenging due to the seeds' struggle to root. For seven years, farmers throughout Europe have observed the continent's increasing aridity. "Compared to previous years, we require 20 percent more land to produce the same quantity of food,"  This declining supply is driving up vegetable prices. Vegetable processo

Lebanon’s economic crisis explained

Image
There has been no president for a year, a political deadlock exists in parliament, and banks have prevented people from withdrawing their own money. There are other countries in a state of collapse, and there are parallels between the turmoil in these  nations.  The root cause of this chaos is deep-seated corruption.  It's disheartening to realize that the real culprits often flee to stable, wealthy countries, depositing their ill-gotten gains in Swiss or UK banks.  This money, stolen from millions of hardworking individuals, leaves behind a trail of despair that drives people to desperate measures.  Currently, escalating poverty is posing a threat to even the wealthiest countries.  Consequently, most refugees who manage to cross borders and establish themselves are likely to confront harsh realities.  The world, therefore, needs an increase in compassion and humanity.

Cry Lebanon

The World Bank has ranked the Lebanese crisis among the top ten worst economic crises globally since the 19th century, potentially placing it within the top three.  The price of bread, a staple food, is frequently revised upwards multiple times a month, while fuel prices adjust twice daily. The ongoing economic and financial crisis that began in October 2019 has been further aggravated by two significant events: the COVID-19 outbreak and the massive Port of Beirut explosion in August 2020. Among these three crises, the economic crisis has had the most substantial and enduring negative impact. https://unverredeau.com/en/liban/

2023 Narrative

Image
What is the current narrative? We are been brought so many evidence of coming conflicts, coming floods, and forest fires ; that nobody in his right mind would try to participate in this economic growth anymore. If you have money in the bank, well, brace for impact and if you don't ... times are going to be tough for you in the next decades. There was a time in the early years of this new century, where we may have had a chance at a prosperous harmonious World, but it really looks like we are heading to a Mad Max kind of World, Apocalyptic madness, dystopian future is no future. Well, this is not going to help my productivity this week.

Global warming and car washing

Image
Every time I wash my old car, it seems to rain; this observation leads me to seriously consider that my car possesses some magical influence over the weather.  Extending this notion, given that my car is relatively old - 15 years to be precise - and part of a discontinued series, I could logically conclude that global warming is caused by the gradual disappearance of these "magical" cars.

Fake and reality will find a compromise

With the fast advance of AI and virtual world full immersion, we may predict that in the next 20 years, we will have access to glasses and contact lenses connected to neural implants.  These devices will enable us to perceive our individual realities according to our preferences.  This technological "advancement" may lead to a shift in societal norms, where individuals with appealing personalities, regardless of physical appearance, could dominate the dating and matrimonial scene.  Consequently, those who rely solely on their looks while maintaining unpleasant attitudes may find themselves less favored.  Alongside this shift, a relationship will become completely irrelevant, since each partner will project their ideal traits on the other partner, not asking them to change anything physically - the emphasis on personality over physical attractiveness will prevail.  We are reaching ' black mirror ' level of dystopia. Either for the first time in human history, there wil
